Join My 7 Day Real Food Challenge

December 13, 2012 by Roxanne | Filed under Holistic Lifestyle.

Today I am very excited to announce a project I have been working on for months!

One of the biggest challenges I have heard from you as my readers is the transition from eating packaged foods to only eating real food. A few months ago I sent out a survey to my subscribers and the responses I got all showed very similar concerns. One of the most common challenges that was expressed was the ability to provide a healthy real food diet for your family that doesn’t take up too much time or too much money. In my experience, the key to making this work is planning and practice. This 7 day Real Food Challenge is designed to jump start the process in making a lifestyle change because we’ve done the planning for you.

Do you think you can eat only real food for 7 days straight?

To some of you this might sound nearly impossible and some of you may be thinking – I already do.  This challenge is designed to help those of you who really want to live the real food lifestyle but might need a little guidance to get started. This challenge is also for all of you who have already figured it out, but you have fallen off the bandwagon. Let’s face it – it’s not easy to stay on a healthy real food diet this time of year. The holidays bring a lot of stress and added to-do list items which can take time away from your healthy routine.  Not to mention, the holiday gatherings that are full of unhealthy food temptations.

So, What is the 7 Day Real Food Challenge?

There is a big group of us following this challenge. Everyone who joins this challenge is making a pact to eat only real food for 7 days – specifically on January 6, 2103 through January 12, 2013 (perfect way to start the new year!). Already there are 11 bloggers who have committed to this challenge and are here as a support team for everyone who joins us. Here is your support team:

Sara from Your Thriving Family

So for those of you who think this might be way too hard to do – you have all these experts here to back you up and help you meet the challenge. It’s not only these bloggers that will be doing the challenge but many of our readers will be following along. Click here to join us and get the plan, recipes, and support now!

The recipes and meal plan included in this package are all real food recipes including animal protein, vegetables, and small amounts of grain. It is also specifically designed for Winter season which includes warming foods that are seasonally appropriate. With that being said, this doesn’t mean that if you live in a warm climate it won’t work, the foods are still healthy real food recipes that are comforting and nutritious.

The plan and recipes require basic kitchen tools. I strongly recommend having a crock pot for this challenge, many of the recipes in the challenge are made for the crock pot – and it makes the whole plan work very well. If you don’t have one already, it’s the perfect time to ask for one from Santa.

Don’t forget about all of the fabulous prizes that you can win by participating (no purchase necessary to enter)…

  1. I’m in we eat mistly real food anyway. It’s after the holidays so I will have to go with free. Taxes are due in January, plus I have to buy my college textbooks and we have 2 kuds bdays. So free is all I can afford

  2. Renae Douglas via Facebook says:

    Probably not, we’re too poor.

  3. Renae Douglas, actually I have found real food to be much more economical then fake packaged products!

  4. Karen Dininny Spafard, it’s really true that not one diet works for everyone. Some people thrive on a diet that could nearly kill another person. Bio-individuality!

  5. Renae Douglas via Facebook says:

I think it depends on where you live…And we have food allergies that make eating difficult. My husband is deathly allergic to all poultry products…

  6. Renae Douglas, location and food allergies are challenges. We are gluten-free and mostly dairy-free so I can understand your situation. Real food is still a better deal, it just might take a little more planning and preparation. I can certainly understand your concerns though.

  7. I would love to take this challenge, I wish I could pay for the recipes cause it would make it a lot easier, but maybe I’ll be able to find some recipe’s in a book that my mom gave me. Also, how do I convince my husband to eat real food with me?

  8. Karen Bocchino Callahan via Facebook says:

I would love for our family to go g/f…..I don’t really know where to start. We are all mostly dairy free and I can REALLY feel the difference when I consume dairy….it was quite eye-opening.

  9. Lindsay Case, real food is delicious! Pick out good recipes and he’ll love it.

  10. All the recipes in this challenge are gluten free and 90% of it is grain free (there are 2 dishes that have rice)

  11. Mari Cleveland via Facebook says:

I prefer to eat real foods/home cooked meals, but my fiance and I both work full time and I’m also in college. So timing is crucial. But also I have a bad habit of going back to junk food binging – it’s like I’m a recovering addict !! For instance if I stop my regular workouts my body wants tons of sugar and crap to make up for the work out high, and that starts the cycle all over.. until I feel like crap and begin healthy living again! Any tips to overcome the urge to retreat to junk food? My pantry already has healthy oils (just pitched the veg oil), healthy spices and herbs, whole wheat unbleached flour, etc.. and I def try to stock fresh fruits and veggies.

  12. Mari Cleveland, I think meal planning might help you stay on track. This is exactly the type of thing I help my one on one clients deal with. If you decide to do the membership version of the challenge with the plan and recipes you also would get a free phone session with me…we could discuss ways to get out of this cycle!

  13. Claire Conroy via Facebook says:

Amazing to me that people need to be challenged to eat real food. Wow.

  14. Claire Conroy, some people really want to make a lifestyle change but don’t know where to start, and need some support!

  15. We do eat a lot of real food at my house. My husband eats really well and I cook most of our dinners. But I love junk food! I know I couldn’t do this right now because I’d having to give up diet soda and I’m not willing to do that. I could possibly try a modified version where I did everything but that. I know – I’m pathetic!

    • Roxanne says:

It’s not easy Patty, you’re not pathetic! It will come in time, it’s a matter of re-training your tastes and finding other things to love to eat and drink!

  16. Meghan Orona via Facebook says:

In the last year I have, for health reasons, had to become low sodium, low fat GF and vegan. This while pregnant and breastfeeding on top of living in a rural area that requires things like carrying 10-20 five gal buckets of water daily. It has been a learning process!

  17. Meghan Orona via Facebook says:

Oh, and we live in Alaska so multiply costs by at least 2x!

  18. Meghan Orona, that sounds very challenging. It sounds like you are doing very well with it though, support from a real foodie might be helpful – if you ever want to do a phone session I’d be happy to help.

  19. Michelle E says:

I paid. This is something I have been wanting to do for a long time.

  20. Laura Broach says:

Excited to be participating. We have been actively moving toward a 100% real food diet, but we aren’t there yet. It will be great to try it for one week. That’s very doable!
